One mission · Many ministries · Open hands
God is on the move. Young people are longing for real encounter and a place to be welcomed, seen, and loved. We want to be ready to receive them like Christ, to love as he first loved us.
From January 2025 we began gathering young adult leaders and priests for synodal conversations, listening for how to recognise and share what God is already doing in Edinburgh. The Apostles Network exists so the 28+ initiatives across the city can pray, plan, and open doors together.
“Freely you have received, freely give” (Mt 10:8). We look to the living body imagery of Ephesians 4:16 — every ligament joined, every part doing its work, building itself up in love.
Working groups in the body
Names the “why” so this stays a grassroots welcome mission. We guard language, tone, and the way we receive newcomers.
Connects ministries and leaders so nobody walks alone. Bridges parishes, prayer groups, dinners, service teams.
Builds calendar, comms, and onboarding tools so frontline leaders can invite, inform, and respond quickly.
Keeps the horizon clear: unity in diversity, one mission with many charisms, tuned to the needs of our time.
Listens, tests, and shares what the Holy Spirit is saying through Scripture, confirmations, and prophetic nudges.
Mission activities
- Young adult Apostles Network committed to prayer, formation, fellowship, and open doors.
- Quarterly gatherings plus the Apostles Summit (29 November) to celebrate 28+ initiatives, share Mass, receive input, and onboard leaders to shared tools.
- Calendar and resources hub so newcomers can see what’s happening and leaders can share courses, training, and mentorship (with friends like the G33 network).
- Common prayer — we pray the Veni Creator Spiritus, asking the Spirit to guide next steps.
“In a living body, no member is passive.” The laity and clergy share the two-fold mission named in Apostolicam Actuositatem: the salvation of all people and the renewal of the world. That mission belongs to everyone here.
